Teacher Resources

  • Theory: Hygiene and related concepts.
  • Play: Students learn hygiene can ward off illness by playing You Make Me Sick!
  • Share & Discuss: These questions focus on hygiene and the playing experience.

What is Hygiene?

  • Hygiene means conditions or practices conducive to maintaining health and preventing disease, especially through cleanliness.
  • Hygiene is more than just washing hands even if washing your hands is important! Clean clothes, a clean body, and clean hair greatly help your hygiene.
  • Hygiene is also avoiding sources of disease. Don't pick up a lollipop off the ground and eat it, and avoid touching your face. Don't sneeze into your hands (which will cause you to infect anything you touch afterward): sneeze into a tissue or the crook of your arm.
  • Try to brush your teeth at least twice a day: when you wake up and before you go to bed.
  • Once puberty begins, you will need to start using a deodorant on your underarms.
  • For some people, washing can cause dry skin. The solution is using moisturizers. If your skin is itchy and/or red, it might be a good idea to go to a doctor to get a prescription for a skin cream!
